Prospects for Economic Growth in Pakistan under Alternative Demographic Scenarios: The Case for a Rapid Fertility Decline

While economic growth in Pakistan has averaged 3 percent over the past decade, Vision 2025 envisages it to be over 8 percent between 2018 and 2025. This is a very ambitious target from the perspective of the four provinces of Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab. The governments of each of these four provinces have proposed economic improvements without much consideration for population growth. These four briefs demonstrate the effect that population changes can have on their respective provinces and Pakistan as a whole.
