In its FP2020 commitments, India stated that it would include civil society organizations in its work to provide “family planning services and supplies free of cost to 200 million couples and 234 million adolescents.” However, state-level budgetary funding for civil society engagement in FP is not being utilized as effectively as it could in some states.

To address this issue, the Evidence Project/Population Council is developing a roadmap with guidelines and recommendations for the Government of India related to civil society engagement in strengthening and improving family planning (FP), based on local and global evidence.
