Expanding Method Access and Choice

It is now widely accepted that as method choice and access expands, so does contraceptive use. Ensuring that clients have access to a full range of contraceptive methods and that they have full, free, and informed choice provided through quality services is critical. Yet many programs still offer a limited range of options. Through implementation research, the Evidence Project is focusing on understanding the context that limits availability of existing methods at the national and district levels. Timely evidence from implementation research will ensure that national programs, donors, and technical assistance organizations can strategically plan for the introduction and integration of emerging technologies into national health systems, procurement processes, and family planning markets.
