Exploration of the effect of the COVID-19 outbreak on women’s access to family planning services in Port Said and Souhag governorates

During the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, little was understood about the effect the pandemic and associated lockdowns would have on access to family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) services. The Evidence Project conducted a mixed methods study in Egypt to assess women’s access to FP/RH services during COVID-19. This Arabic language brief summarizes results of that study. It presents perspectives of physicians and pharmacists who provide FP/RH services and women who sought services during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown.
